Interesting Facts About Wildwood, Georgia 

Adjacent to North Highland lies the residential and commercial district of Wildwood, Georgia. Like North Highland, it is roughly the same distance from Dallas, Marietta, and Atlanta. The boundary to the west with North Highland is Highway 61, and to the north and east it’s Highway 41. The neighborhood ends in the south around M.L.K. Jr. Drive. The Satterfield Branch, a branch of the Petit Creek, runs through both Wildwood and North Highland.

Unlike its neighbor, Wildwood has more commercial interests, in particular to the north. Right across Highway 41 and accessible to both neighborhoods is a busy strip with a Walmart Supercenter and Lowe’s Home Improvement anchoring either end. Across the street is the Cartersville Medical Center. Chain restaurants, including Dairy Queen, Hooters, Pizza Hut, Sonic Drive-In, and Checkers along with more homestyle locale’s such as Captain D’s and Martin’s Restaurant stand ready to feed hungry diners.

Commercial interests continue along the borders of Wildwood, the busy highways that define the community. Moviegoers can visit AMC Classic Theater on North Tennessee Street. Residents can fulfill their banking needs at Family Savings Credit and Bank of America Financial Center near 41. A Home Depot stands on the corner of Gentilly Boulevard and 41.

Despite all of the development, there are a few homes tucked away in the center and southern area of the community, mostly one-story, unpretentious homes designed in a ranch style. Religious services are mostly met by a half dozen churches located in the vicinity of M.L.K. Jr Drive, largely in the Junta neighborhood. The only school in the immediate area is the Gingerbread House Pre-School, technically located in the North Highlands area near Highway 41 and North Tennessee Street. There is a post office and a UPS store located in the mini-mall across the road from Highway 41 in the north.
