Annual events are programs that happen every year. They are typically a way of fundraising, showcasing a topic, or a social gathering. Kennesaw has many annual events to entertain its residents. Down below are only some of the most popular events of the year.

Superior Plumbing Kennesaw/ Big Shanty Festival

The 42nd annual Superior Plumbing Kennesaw/ Big Shanty Festival is one of the largest festivals in North Georgia. There are multiple booths featuring an array of homemade crafts. For the children, there is a Kid’s Zone with inflatables to entertain them. This year, Lady Houdini will be in attendance to entertain people as the only current female in the world attempting the water torture cell. For all the concert lovers, Loud Security Systems Inc. will sponsor an amazing show. To kick off the event, there will be a parade, and it will include more than 2,000 students representing every sports association and school in the area. Beauty pageant winners will also march in the parade. The event is free, so come check out all these fun activities that will take place in downtown Kennesaw from April 21st- April 22nd.

Trains, Trains, Trains!

Check out the 9th annual train event. It will take place on January 26th- January 27th in the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History. This event is designed for families with children as the museum will feature various hands-on train activities. To conclude this event, some of the Bluegrass Bands will be playing: High Point Quartet- Shaun Drey & Company. Tucker Station, and MARS HILL PORCH PICKERS- Dickson Lester. The admission tickets cost $7.50 for adults, $5.50 for children ages 4-12, and children under 3 are free.

Civil War Symposium 

The 14th Annual Civil War Symposium – “Longstreet to Redemption: Lee’s War Horse in War and Peace” will take place on March 18 at Kennesaw State University. The event will feature Confederate General James Longstreet. General Longstreet was the one who settled in Gainesville, Georgia after the war. Presentations by Center Director Brian S. Willis, Professor of History Dr. Keith Bohanon, and author Jeffry D. West will be made. The cost is a donation of $5.00. Annual members and students are admitted for free.
